Powder Room Wall Art: Pro Tips

Our resident interior design expert, Elimar Lobo Sáenz, emphasizes the importance of wall décor in your bathroom and powder area:

"The bathroom should be a sacred space to be with yourself. Aesthetically, it can play a major role in setting the tone for the rest of your home. Adding a large piece of artwork can be the perfect way to tie the whole room together and provide a touch of personality. Also, don't underestimate the power of a well-curated bathroom gallery-wall!"

Colors to Complement Your Space

When it comes to color palettes, keep it sleek and simple. Follow these pro-tips from our guide on how to combine neutrals and statement shades:

Powder Room Wall Art: Pro Tips

"In order to avoid a space that looks too warm or too cool, include a bit of both! If you want to add warm accent colors like orange, red, and yellow, keep your neutral tones on the cooler side. That means using primarily whites and greys as the base of your space. By using cool neutral tones as a base, you are allowing yourself the freedom to play with warm, cheerful hues."

Our resident design expert Elimar Lobo Sáenz shares her advice on a trendy cool-tone to use in your powder room:

"Turquoise, a blend of light blue and green, has tropical undertones that bring to mind the cooling properties of the ocean and can instantly transport you to a relaxed day on the beach. It is said that turquoise represents a desire to make your own way in the world, under your very own terms."

Black and White Powder Room

When in doubt, you can't go wrong with something modern and minimalist like black and white!

Powder Room Wall Art: Sizes

Choose your powder room canvas size using these excerpts from our ultimate wall art size guide:

Your wall art should take up about 60% to 75% of the available empty wall space, the portion not covered by moldings or furniture. Measure the height and width of the wall. Now, multiply the measurements by both 0.6 and 0.75. As a result, you will get the range of canvas print sizes to suit the space.

For instance, if your blank wall is 9 feet tall and 5 feet wide, multiply 9 by 0.6 to get the low end of the ideal height range. Then multiply 9 by 0.75 to get the high end of the ideal height range. Do the same for your wall's 5 feet width. The ideal height of the canvas would be 5.4 feet - 6.75 feet and the ideal width would be 3 feet - 3.75 feet.

Powder Room Wall Art: Pro Tips

Reference this expert tip when hanging your artwork:

"In a compact space like a powder room…. a common design mistake is not hanging the artwork flush with the wall. A canvas that sticks out too far can cheapen the overall look of your space. Attention to detail is crucial when crafting a well-curated interior. If your nail is sticking out and causing a gap between your canvas and the wall, it can be distracting to onlookers. A flush frame or canvas is especially important when creating a gallery wall or hanging a multi-panel piece."

Powder Room Wall Art: Pro Tips

You can also choose from a framed or unframed print. Read this passage from our article on framed vs unframed art:

"Unframed canvas is artwork that is not set into any frame. Because of frameless borders, these artworks can adapt to any style. Unframed canvas prints are loved for their sleek and modern look. The minimalist look blends well with contemporary furniture and virtually all interior styles.

Framed artwork looks complete and polished. Because of the small gap between the canvas and the frame, the canvas print seems to be floating inside the frame, giving your artwork a truly unique look. One of the best benefits of framed artwork is that it looks very light and unbulky, which results in a clean appearance."
